Prof. Gary G. Yen

BIO: 

Gary G. Yen joined the School of Computer Science at Sichuan University as a full-time faculty member in 2025. Prior to this appointment, he served as a Regents Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Oklahoma State University (OSU), USA. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1992.

In terms of academic service, Prof. Yen served as Vice President for Technical Activities of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) from 2004 to 2005, Founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine from 2006 to 2009, and President of the IEEE CIS from 2010 to 2011. He has recently been elected as a Distinguished Lecturer for the 2026–2028 term. He was the recipient of the Regents Distinguished Research Award from OSU in 2009 and the Andrew P. Sage Best Transactions Paper Award from the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society in 2011. Furthermore, he served as Chair of the IEEE CIS Awards Committee during the 2008–2009, 2014–2015, and 2018–2019 terms, and as Chair of the IEEE CIS Fellow Evaluation Committee in 2016–2017, 2020–2021, and 2023. Prof. Yen is currently a Fellow of the IEEE, IET, and IAPR.

ChongFeng, Doctor, professor, doctoral supervisor, national leading talents. Vice Chairman of Machine Translation Committee of Chinese Language Information Society of China, CCF senior member. From 2005 to March 2010, he was engaged in research and development and project management in the field of language information processing at the Computer Language Information Engineering Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In March 2010, he was transferred to the School of Computer Science, Beijing Institute of Technology. He is currently the deputy director and secretary of the Institute of Language Intelligence and Social Computing of the School of Computer Science, and the deputy director of the Engineering Research Center of Beijing Mass Language Information Processing and Cloud Computing Application, and the deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Information Intelligent Processing and Content Security of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Served as a reviewer for SCI international journals such as KBS and TKDE; Field Chairman and program committee member of COLING, CCL, CCMT and other domestic and foreign academic conferences.

Specializing in language information processing technology for nearly two decades. As the person in charge, he undertook more than 10 national key research and development projects, National 863 program projects, National Natural Science Foundation and other scientific research projects, and participated in 5 national defense projects as the core backbone. The developed technology and platform have been deployed and operated in a ministry of the People's Liberation Army, a bureau of the Ministry of State Security, the National Computer Network and Security Management Center, Beijing Science and Technology Information Institute and other departments, breaking through key technologies, achieving remarkable results and producing good benefits. Published in TKDE, KBS, SIGIR, EMNLP, AAAI and other high-level international journals and conferences SCI index more than 10 papers, EI index more than 20 papers. It has won 1 provincial and ministerial first prize, 1 provincial and ministerial second prize (ranking 4th), 2 provincial and ministerial third prizes (ranking 2nd), and 4 national defense scientific and technological achievements appraisal.
